Helping teens untangle big feelings and big pressures.
Therapy that teens are invested in
Being a teenager is complicated. You’re figuring out who you are, where you fit, what you believe, who your real friends are, and what you want for your future. You're expected to do all this while dealing with school, family pressure, social media, relationships, and expectations. It can feel lonely in a way that’s hard to explain.
A lot of teens tell me they don’t want another lecture. They don’t want to be judged. They don’t want everything they say turned into a “life lesson.” They want someone who actually listens.
That’s where I come in.
I truly get how intense this stage of life can feel. The highs are high. The lows are really low. The pressure is constant. And sometimes you just need a trusted adult who isn’t your parent. You need someone safe, steady, and on your side.
Does this sound familiar?
✦“I’m behind everyone else. Everyone else seems to have it together.”
✦ “I’m so stressed about grades and my future that I can’t relax.”
✦ “My parents don’t get me.”
✦ “I get irritated so fast. Then I feel bad about it.”
✦“I keep comparing myself to everyone online.”
✦ “I worry about disappointing my parents, teachers, or friends.”
✦ “I lie awake at night because my brain won’t stop.”
Benefits of therapy for teens
Adolescence is a time of rapid growth, change, and self-discovery. It can also feel overwhelming. Between academic pressure, social dynamics, family expectations, and the constant influence of social media, many teens experience stress and anxiety that can feel hard to manage alone.
Therapy provides teens with a supportive, confidential space where they can talk openly, build coping skills, and better understand themselves. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each teen’s unique needs and personality.
Therapy can help with
✦Anxiety and excessive worry
✦School stress and academic pressure
✦ Social anxiety and friendship challenges
✦ Difficulty regulating emotions
✦ Perfectionism and fear of failure
✦ Family conflict or communication struggles
✦ Identity exploration and self-discovery
✦ Life transitions (divorce, relocation, new school)
Signs your teen might benefit from therapy
Most teens don’t suddenly decide they need therapy. It’s usually the moment you realize you’re exhausted from feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed all the time. When those feelings start affecting your sleep, school, friendships, or confidence, it may be time for support.
You might notice:
✦ Feeling constantly stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious
✦ Overthinking conversations, texts, or small mistakes
✦ Crying more often or seeming emotionally numb
✦ Irritable, snapping at others, and feeling guilty afterward
✦ Struggling to focus at school or seeing grades drop
✦ Having trouble sleeping because their mind won’t slow down
✦ Feeling left out, lonely, or disconnected from friends
✦ Comparing themselves to others and feeling “not good enough”
Therapy isn’t just for when things are “really bad.” It’s for when you’re tired of handling everything alone. If your day-to-day life feels heavier than it should, that’s reason enough to reach out.

Meet Holly Lark, Teen Therapist
Hi, I’m Holly, a licensed clinical social worker and I have a special place in my heart for working with teens. This stage of life matters. The feelings you’re having make sense. And you deserve support from someone who understands how big everything can feel right now.
As a therapist serving teens in Texas and Massachusetts, I create a space where adolescents can explore their identity, develop emotional resilience, and make choices that align with their values and goals.
Beyond my work in private practice, I spent six years as a Social Emotional Counselor at Kinder High School for Performing and Visual Arts. This experience has deepened my understanding of the creative mind and the unique struggles teens face in balancing self-expression, academics, and social pressures.
Whether your teen needs support navigating friendships, anxiety, perfectionism, or the transition into adulthood—like preparing for college, career planning, or living independently—I am passionate about helping young people build the confidence and skills they need to thrive.
No one has to figure it all out alone. Therapy can be a powerful tool in helping teens feel more grounded, hopeful, and prepared for what’s ahead.
If you’re looking for teen or adolescent therapy in Texas or Massachusetts, I invite you to reach out. Whether you’re certain you’re ready or just exploring your options, we can start with a conversation.
Healing begins with one safe step.

Your teen may benefit from therapy if they are experiencing ongoing sadness, anxiety, irritability, withdrawal from friends or family, changes in sleep or appetite, or difficulty at school. Teen therapy can help even if problems seem mild. Early support makes a big difference.
-
In a teen therapy session, your teen meets one-on-one with a therapist in a confidential setting. Sessions may include verbal processing, problem-solving, learning coping strategies, and sometimes creative approaches like journaling or mindfulness exercises. I adjust how sessions look depending on each clients unique needs.
-
The length of teen counseling depends on your teen’s needs and goals. Some teens benefit from short-term therapy (a few months), while others may continue longer for ongoing support and personal growth.
-
It can help to approach the conversation with empathy and without pressure. Let your teen know therapy is a safe space just for them—not a punishment. Emphasize that it’s about support, not judgment. I also offer a free 15 minute consultation call that can give your teen time to ask me questions and feel out of they think we would be a good fit.

I am not contracted with any insurance companies as an in-network provider. I have made this decision for several reasons, but one of the most important reasons is to protect your confidentiality. However, I can offer you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Please reach out to your insurance company directly to inquire about your policy's out-of-network reimbursement options.
